Geographical Compass

The four extremes of a country

Opens the challenge tracker on Geographical Compass.

Geographical Compass is an unofficial parkrun challenge. In a country, visit the northernmost, southernmost, easternmost and westernmost parkrun. Each country with at least four parkruns is its own compass.

  • North is the highest latitude and south is the lowest. East and west use the smallest arc that contains that country, including across the date line.
  • The targets are current 5k events. A new event can move an extreme.
  • A compass you have already finished stays finished. The page then shows the new extremes separately.
  • One event can be the extreme for more than one direction. Finishing it fills each of those directions.
  • The compass on this page uses Australia as the example. Your tracker follows the country you have actually run in.
