The course
Course description
The 5K course for the Camperdown parkrun combines sections through open park land, past the Camperdown Wildlife Centre, and the wooded areas of Dundee's largest park. The start point is 250m down the gravel path on the left of the access road, opposite the car park.
The route begins with a short descent down the gravel path, crosses over at the first gate then continues between the play area and the trees to reach the wildlife centre. The surface changes to tarmac, downhill for the next 500m, before turning right along the forest trail to the lowest point of the course. There is then a 500m climb to the western entrance of the park. Participants then turn east along the park road, past the duck pond, and the old golf course, before turning South, passing Camperdown House before the surface changes back to forest trail for the descent back to the wildlife centre. After crossing the road the route continues North of the tree line, by the grass, before crossing over to the gravel trail again. After passing through the meadow the route follows the path uphill through the eastern woods, before crossing back to the start point with a short 100m uphill sprint for the finish.
On the course
The course is 5k long. The course is in Camperdown Country Park, Coupar Angus Road, Dundee, DD2 4TF and run on hard packed forest paths and short tarmac sections. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.
Please remember that the parkrun uses shared paths. For the continued success of the event, please give way to other park users. This won't hurt your time, it won't stop you from getting a PB and it will make sure everyone continues to enjoy the event.
Please, wherever possible walk, jog, cycle or use public transport when attending the event. If you do have to drive, please consider car-sharing to reduce our impact on both the environment and other park users. Please also watch out for other park users when arriving and leaving. Parking may be limited so try to arrive early.
