The course
Course description
The start of spring/summer course is on the clifftops not too far from the Salad Bowl Café and close by to the bus stop on the adjacent road.
Head on the left hand side of the grass clifftops up to the turning point close by to the stone wall which is next to the white lighthouse. A volunteer marshal will be positioned at this point. We then run/jog/walk back along the cliffs, with the roadside to our left and turn again at the start point having completed our first full lap. Complete this loop 3 times in total and then a much shortened final lap, with a volunteer marshal inviting parkrunners to turn half way and head back to the 5Km finish line and funnel.
On the course
The course is 5k long. The course is at Hunstanton North Promenade, Hunstanton. The course is ran entirely on tarmac (winter course), whilst the summer course is ran entirely on grass. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.
Please remember that the parkrun uses shared paths. For the continued success of the event, please give way to other park users. This won't hurt your time, it won't stop you from getting a PB and it will make sure everyone continues to enjoy the event.
Please, wherever possible walk, jog, cycle or use public transport when attending the event. If you do have to drive, please consider car-sharing to reduce our impact on both the environment and other park users. Please also watch out for other park users when arriving and leaving. Parking may be limited so try to arrive early.
Facilities
Access to public toilets are close by on Hunstanton Green as you approach the North Prom carpark and Sailing Club, or outside the Salad Bowl Cafe on Cliff Parade.

Public transport
Bus: Regular buses (numbers 34/35/36) from King’s Lynn bus station to Hunstanton via local villages of Dersingham and Snettisham and take approx. 55 minutes. They run approx. every 30 minutes with the no 34 bus leaving King’s Lynn on a Saturday morning at 7:45am and arriving in Hunstanton at 8:41am.

From the bus station it's a 5-minute walk. Turning left out of the bus station, walk towards the Green with Golden Lion hotel to your right. Carry on walking on Cliff Parade past the bowling green on your left and you will then see the Salad Bowl Cafe to your left where we gather for the start of the summer course.
By road
Hunstanton is a traditional seaside town located in North West Norfolk and is approximately a 25-minute (16 miles) drive from King’s Lynn on the A149; and a 25-30-minute (19 miles) drive from Fakenham on the B1454 and A148 and then a further 50 minutes (35 miles) from the city of Norwich (A1270 and A1067). North of Hunstanton the A149 leads to Wells-Next-The-Sea which is approximately 30 minutes and 17 miles from Hunstanton.
Hunstanton Sailing Club is a short 5-minute walk from the centre/High Street and either on-street or pay car parking. A good landmark is the amusement arcade on the Green. The parkrun postcode is PE36 6GB although as it is a relatively new postcode your satnav may not recognise this. If so, please use PE36 6BQ. Hunstanton has numerous pay and display car parks within a short walking distance of the sailing club. Full details can be located at the West Norfolk Council's website.
Please note we request that in order to keep the immediate area close to the start and finish clear/accessible to all, participants do not park at the North Prom/Esplanade Gardens car park unless they have specific mobility/additional needs.

Course safety
Hunstanton Promenade parkrun is a fun, free event organised by volunteers for the benefit of everyone. We wish to make the event as safe as possible, so participants, spectators and helpers are asked to take care about the following:
- Please be considerate to the park and other park users at all times.
- Children under the age of eleven must be accompanied (within arm's reach) throughout the event by a parent, guardian or appropriate adult of the parent's choice.
- Please arrive by foot, by pedal-power or by public transport if you can - your efforts help to reduce our impact on the park and the planet.
- We invite everyone to consider volunteering at parkrun. Your support helps your parkrun events remain sustainable and free for all in your community, and it’s also a wonderful way to improve your own health and happiness. Please visit the volunteer page for more information.
- Take care near roads and car parks – some vehicles drive very quickly. Please congregate away from the cars and be careful in particular if you have children. If you’re driving to the event, please drive carefully.
- Take care on uneven surfaces – whether on grass or on tarmac. Watch out for cyclists, other participants, pedestrians, children, dogs, wildlife, park animals, vehicles, park maintenance work, falling branches, bollards, posts and other obstacles around the course.
- Please ensure that you are fit enough to walk, jog, run 5k (3.1 miles) with us.
- If you see someone with a serious problem, please stop to help them out and get help as soon as possible.
- If you’re watching, keep clear of participants on the course, and look after any children and dogs you may have with you.
- It is not permitted to run with a pushchair and a dog at the same time.
- Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection spread to humans by infected ticks. Consider protecting yourself by wearing repellent when at parkrun events in grassy or wooded areas. See lymediseaseuk.com for further details.
- You are welcome to take part with one dog by your side, within reach at all times, on a short, handheld, non-extendable lead. The use of waist harnesses is prohibited. Please also see this Support Site entry for further details about parkrunning with dogs.
- parkrunners pushing buggies are welcome, but please take care of others around you and do your best to start at an appropriate place in the field for your pace.
We hope these tips help to ensure that Hunstanton Promenade parkrun is fun and safe for everyone.
