The course
Course description
Our course is a friendly mix of tarmac, resin paths and woodland trail, with a few gentle ups and downs. From the start, you’ll follow the path on the south side of the river, with the river on your right. Around 1k you will pass under a large white bridge and after this turn right, crossing a small bridge before turning right again to join the path on the north side of the river - this is the start of lap 1.
You will complete a lap of the pond and pass through the enchanted garden before taking either the ramp or the stairs, and turning left towards Leslie House, where you’ll turn left again to complete a downhill section. At the bottom of the hill, lap 1 is now complete.
Turn left here to begin lap 2, a shorter lap that does not loop around the pond this time. After a few hundred metres you will turn left and cross a small wooden bridge, turning left through the enchanted garden again before taking the ramp or stairs and heading towards Leslie House where you turn left and head down the hill. At the bottom of the hill, lap 2 is now complete.
Continue straight ahead across the bridge and follow the path on the south side of the river that you came along on the way out until you reach the finish.
Some parts of the route are narrow, especially near the pond and on bridges. Please keep to single file in these sections and avoid overtaking.
On the course
The course is 5k long. The course is at Riverside Park, Glenrothes. The course is run on a mixture of permanent paths and trail paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.
Please remember that the parkrun uses shared paths. For the continued success of the event, please give way to other park users. This won't hurt your time, it won't stop you from getting a PB and it will make sure everyone continues to enjoy the event.
Please, wherever possible walk, jog, cycle or use public transport when attending the event. If you do have to drive, please consider car-sharing to reduce our impact on both the environment and other park users. Please also watch out for other park users when arriving and leaving. Parking may be limited so try to arrive early.
Facilities
Toilets are available in the Kingdom Centre beside Rothes Hall, just a short walk from the park. There are also toilets beside the skatepark car park, although these are not always guaranteed to be open.
Riverside Park has lots to explore, including a skateboard park, a large pump track, several children’s play areas (the largest is about 100 m from the finish), an arboretum, a labyrinth, a maze and a collection of quirky statues.
