The course
Course description
Pre Event Briefing by the Bandstand.
Walk to the start by the Parking Hut using the stony path. Run along the tarmac road (road closure in place) and then turn left onto the cycle path.
Then it is approximately 1.5k out and 1.5k back twice along the cycle path, returning along the stony path (which runs parallel with the road) to the finish by the model village. It is hillier than you think, but flat for Cornwall!
Finish by the Model Village.
Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event, with the exception of assistance dogs.
On the course
The course is 5k long. The course is at Land's End, Penzance. The course is run on a mixture of tarmac paths and cycle paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.
Please remember that the parkrun uses shared paths. For the continued success of the event, please give way to other park users. This won't hurt your time, it won't stop you from getting a PB and it will make sure everyone continues to enjoy the event.
Please, wherever possible walk, jog, cycle or use public transport when attending the event. If you do have to drive, please consider car-sharing to reduce our impact on both the environment and other park users. Please also watch out for other park users when arriving and leaving. Parking may be limited so try to arrive early.
Facilities
Toilets and a children’s play area as well as the famous Land’s End signpost. A hotel is also available on site for those who wish to stay the night before.
Land’s End Hotel offer a £10 Runner’s Breakfast buffet for £10 from 10am to 10.30am. You have to pay for any hot drinks. (This is subject to change depending on how many guests the hotel have in.)
More details
Public transport
Bus: The number 1 bus leaves Penzance Bus Station at 7.35am and arrives at Land's End car park at 8.47am.
Train: The nearest train station is Penzance, however you will need to get a taxi from there to Land’s End which will not be cheap.
On foot
There are pavements on one side of the road or the other from Sennen to Land’s End. Please use them.
By road
By Car: Once on the A30, which is mostly dual carriageway, travel westbound towards Redruth, Camborne and Hayle until you reach Penzance. In Penzance, look for signs marked Land’s End and follow the A30 for nine miles until you reach the village of Sennen. In Sennen, travel through the village, past the road to Sennen Cove and beyond the First & Last Inn. You’ll find Land’s End at the very end of the A30 road.
IMPORTANT - Free parking is only available to Cornish parkrunners who bring their photo driving license and register their vehicle at the Visitor Centre or Hotel Reception (if Visitor Centre closed). ALL other parkrunners will have to pay for parking (currently £7.50 from 4am to midnight.).
By Bike: Go straight out of the train station car park onto the road, keeping the sea on your left, until you come to a mini roundabout. Turn right into Alexandra Road and cycle to the top. At this mini roundabout turn left onto Alverton Road until you get to the main A30. At the big roundabout turn left and keep cycling along the A30, going past the road to Sennen Cove and through Sennen village and beyond the First & Last Inn. You’ll find Land’s End at the very end of the A30 road. It’s about nine miles from the train station to Land’s End.

Course safety
Land’s End parkrun is a fun, free event organised by volunteers for the benefit of everyone. We wish to make the event as safe as possible, so participants, spectators and helpers are asked to take care about the following:
- Please be considerate to the park and other park users at all times.
- Children under the age of eleven must be accompanied (within arm's reach) throughout the event by a parent, guardian or appropriate adult of the parent's choice.
- Please arrive by foot, by pedal-power or by public transport if you can - your efforts help to reduce our impact on the park and the planet.
- We invite everyone to consider volunteering at parkrun. Your support helps your parkrun events remain sustainable and free for all in your community, and it’s also a wonderful way to improve your own health and happiness. Please visit the volunteer page for more information.
- Take care near roads and car parks – some vehicles drive very quickly. Please congregate away from the cars and be careful in particular if you have children. If you’re driving to the event, please drive carefully.
- Take care on uneven surfaces – whether on grass or on tarmac. Watch out for cyclists, other participants, pedestrians, children, dogs, wildlife, park animals, vehicles, park maintenance work, falling branches, bollards, posts and other obstacles around the course.
- Please ensure that you are fit enough to walk, jog, run 5k (3.1 miles) with us.
- If you see someone with a serious problem, please stop to help them out and get help as soon as possible.
- If you’re watching, keep clear of participants on the course, and look after any children and dogs you may have with you.
- Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection spread to humans by infected ticks. Consider protecting yourself by wearing repellent when at parkrun events in grassy or wooded areas. See lymediseaseuk.com for further details.
- Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event.
The only exception to this rule is when accompanied by an assistance dog. - parkrunners pushing buggies are welcome, but please take care of others around you and do your best to start at an appropriate place in the field for your pace.
We hope these tips help to ensure that Land’s End parkrun is fun and safe for everyone.
