The course
Course description
The meeting and start point are near to the beach huts and public toilet block, in between Daedalus slipway and “On the Water” restaurant (formerly Leon’s bar and bistro) Lee-on-the-Solent promenade, Marine Parade West, PO13 9LW. The start is a mix of prom and compacted shingle. Please note the shingle may create a degree of difficulty for runners with buggies.
There are 2 large car parks approximately 5 minutes’ walk from the start, Beach Road car park PO13 9FH, and Monks Hill car park PO13 9NJ, charges apply, please ensure you park responsibly in a car parking bay, as regulations are strictly enforced, there are also a number of smaller car parks nearby, there is some on road parking near the start which is free until 10am.
The start of the course runs south-east, towards Browndown MOD land, with everyone keeping to the LEFT at this stage of the run. As you reach the marshal point, turn 180 degrees clockwise around the cone and then return along the same path, keeping LEFT. As you continue to run towards Daedalus you will see the 'finish funnel' marshals on the left and On the Water restaurant (formerly Leon’s) on the right. At this point we respectively request that you now move over to the RIGHT and remain on that line for the remainder of the run. Continue along the promenade, navigating through the slightly deeper shingle area at Daedalus and then continue to the final turn point.
You will approach the marshal point on the right-hand side to enable you to navigate around the cone in an anti-clockwise direction. Return along the promenade until you reach the finish funnel next to “On the Water” restaurant, formerly Leon’s bistro. The course is flat, with the exception of a short, elevated section near the start and you will negotiate this a second time on the way to the shack turn cone. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at significant locations or signs will be in place.
On the course
The course is 5k long. The course is at Marine Parade East, Lee-on-the-Solent. The course is run on a mixture of tarmac paths and shingle. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.
Please remember that the parkrun uses shared paths. For the continued success of the event, please give way to other park users. This won't hurt your time, it won't stop you from getting a PB and it will make sure everyone continues to enjoy the event.
Please, wherever possible walk, jog, cycle or use public transport when attending the event. If you do have to drive, please consider car-sharing to reduce our impact on both the environment and other park users. Please also watch out for other park users when arriving and leaving. Parking may be limited so try to arrive early.
Facilities
Toilets are available close to the start area.

- Please be considerate to the park and other park users at all times.
- Children under the age of eleven must be accompanied (within arm's reach) throughout the event by a parent, guardian or appropriate adult of the parent's choice.

- Take care near roads and car parks – some vehicles drive very quickly. Please congregate away from the cars and be careful in particular if you have children. If you’re driving to the event, please drive carefully.

- Please ensure that you are fit enough to walk, jog, run 5k (3.1 miles) with us.
- If you see someone with a serious problem, please stop to help them out and get help as soon as possible.

- It is not permitted to run with a pushchair and a dog at the same time.
- Lyme Disease is a bacterial infection spread to humans by infected ticks. Consider protecting yourself by wearing repellent when at parkrun events in grassy or wooded areas. See lymediseaseuk.com for further details.
