The course
Course description
This two lap out-and-back 5k course starts on the scenic Rivers Trail path near the Tennis Courts parking lot, to the west of the Japanese Garden. Participants follow the Rivers Trail heading east through the park, past the high water marker, and down to Pioneer park. Participants will reach the turning point at the east end where the Red Bridge used to be, returning back along the Rivers Trail to the west turning point which is situated next to the finish area. Participants will then do a slightly shorter 2nd lap, out along the Rivers Trail to the east turning point again and returning back to the finish area just before the Japanese Garden.
Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event in Riverside Park due to city bylaws.
On the course
The course is 5k long. The course is at Riverside Park, Kamloops. The course is run entirely on permanent paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.
Please remember that the parkrun uses shared paths. For the continued success of the event, please give way to other park users. This won't hurt your time, it won't stop you from getting a PB and it will make sure everyone continues to enjoy the event.
Please, wherever possible walk, jog, cycle or use public transport when attending the event. If you do have to drive, please consider car-sharing to reduce our impact on both the environment and other park users. Please also watch out for other park users when arriving and leaving. Parking may be limited so try to arrive early.
Facilities
There are several washroom facilities in Riverside Park at Heritage House, opposite the tennis courts and at the Water Park, depending on the time of year.
